Melody now comes with the darker Long Wave Blonde wig and a face design tweak which now has a subtle purple tint around her eyes. I will keep the customer photos as they are of the previous version.
Licensed products are not so much about the money and more about the opportunity to work on something cool. In fact, after paying whats known as a Minimum Guarantee (a flat sum of money that enables us to work with the studios), we certainly do not make back what we put in.
What we do gain is the skills and experience to work on something new and this is why we have continued to work on licensed products.
But licensed products are extremely restrictive in terms of design, how many we can sell, where we can sell and how much for. They are also resource intensive as we need to figure out how to make new accessories in shapes that we had never done before.
A few years later when talks with Warner Bros started to fall into place, the final Super Girl was then created with the Kanata head mold and a face design that I felt better matched Melissa Benoist.
Even after so many years, Melody still continues to sell well and will always be our girl of steel ;-)
